Most are afraid to consider that there might not be free will. Few take the time to really question why this fear arises. The mind IS the choosing. So to consider that there is no free will is to deny the entire existence that we believe that we're having.
Mind tries to hide from this consideration.
We may feel compelled to abandon our train of thought. We may feel the need to distract ourselves. Mind may even just go blank like a possum playing dead.
All of these are defense mechanisms of the mind.
If we persevere with our looking and hold to questioning free will like a pit bull with its tug toy- we will at the very least have the opportunity to open the door to contemplation.
You must be able to look first before anything can be discovered.
I'm not going to convince you one way or another in this article, but I wanted to make you Aware of why the mind avoids the question and holds onto free will as if its life depended on it.
Life existed before the mind came to be.
We were born without language.
Language creates duality.
Language- is imagination.
So mind is an imagined abstract layer superimposed upon a non-distinct, non-dual Reality.
So, the question is...
Does your individual mind actually make these choices independently- or is choice just an illusory concept superimposed upon a Unitive Universally non-dual flowing Reality?
