We hear things like "before Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. After Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water" or "after Enlightenment, laundry".
If nothing really changes, then what is the big deal about Awakening to Truth? What does it get you? Why all the fuss when nothing is gained?
The difficult thing to Understand is how damaging it is to identify as the individual who possesses a body-mind and is having an individual experience. When we hold this idea of separateness, we have disconnected ourselves from the Source of Life. The psychological mind actually severs the interconnectivity we have with the rest of the Universe.
The dualistic mind creates the "I thought", the me, the person, as well as everything existing other than me. ALL of this division is created by the mind. Before we took on the role of the person and separated ourselves from Life, we WERE Life Itself. Now mind may recoil from this statement a bit, as it seems not very plausible and a little bit "out there", but it is True.
What mind fails to See, is that existence existed before mind was imagined into existence. As an infant and as a small toddler, there was no identification as this body-mind. There was Wholeness. An infant does not even really understand the concept of distance, as there is no idea of other. Watch an infant reach for something like the moon...they have no concept of any concepts. This is why an infant's eyes shine with the Light of Source...
So what does Enlightenment give us? It gives us back the Light within our eyes. We feel the energy of Source pulsing through us, but also feel an energetic connection with all of Life. We Realize Our True Nature is the Formless Presence in which Life is flowing in its perfect harmony. It allows us to look at Life without the heaviness of duality and frees us from the mind that suffers in wanting Life to be other than It Is.
We don't get much experientially. Life keeps moving much as It always has- but We come to KNOW that We are greater than this experiencing, We are greater than the body-mind, and We smile inwardly, empowered by the Light of Source Itself...
